Financial News, the weekly journal from the Dow Jones/Wall Street Journal stable has published its 2009 survey of Top 100 Women in Financial Markets. This is the survey’s third year of publication and Manifest’s CEO, Sarah Wilson has joined the list for the first time.

The unranked list contains some familiar City names and is drawn up from a long list of 250 in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Candidates were marked for their influence over their area, leadership within their sector, performance over the last year, and their capacity to shape their business and/or industry over the year to come. “All have steered a steady course through the crisis, responded quickly in the face of adversity and remained positioned to prosper further in the face of turbulent times ahead” said Yasmine Chinwala of Financial News.

This year’s list is a reflection of the financial community’s increased focus on risk management and reuglation. Prior surveys have rarely seen entries from regulators or lobby groups but as global governments have sought ways to prevent further financial crises so the work of women influencing and carrying out policy has brought them into the public eye.

Commenting on the list Sarah said: “I feel particularly honoured to be joining such a high profile list, particularly at this time when the role of governance in protecting shareholders is becoming more widely recognised and understood”.
