Proxy agency wins two fund contracts
Proxy share voting agency Manifest has announced two new pension
fund contract wins, backed by growing interest in effective corporate
governance.
Lincolnshire County Council pension scheme and pension fund investment
manager Clerical Medical Investment Group have now signed up with the agency
and will use Manifest's on-line vote management system in time for this
year's peak voting season.
Manifest provides pension scheme investors with information about
issues relevant to corporate voting choices. It says the information is based
on independent and impartial analysis.
Managing director Sarah Wilson said the new appointments gave timely
backing to government efforts to improve institutional shareholder voting.
"We are delighted that these organisations have chosen to use our
computerised vote management system. Recent government papers have expressed a
strong desire for institutions to exercise their shareholder rights on an
informed basis.
Manifest is working alongside a number of key institutions to
meet these challenges," she said.
Lincolnshire County Council assistant chief finance officer David Forbes
said: "As a county council we wish to ensure that we exercise our voting rights
responsibly and in accordance with an informed voting strategy.
"Manifest's systems give us the tools to ensure we maximise the
considered and informed use of our voting rights."
