Council of Institutional Investors
Purpose: The
Council of Institutional Investors (CII)
aims to be the premier US shareholder-rights organisation.
Membership:
The CII is a not-for-profit association of 130 public, trade union and corporate
pension funds with assets exceeding $3 trillion. Honorary international
participants and other interested parties can attend CII meetings and receive
CII mailings.

Structure: The
CII has a council board which works on the policy approved by general members at
its spring and fall meetings.

Activities:
The Council works, through its meetings and mailings, to educate members and
the public about corporate governance, and to advocate for strong governance
standards on issues ranging from executive compensation to the election of
corporate directors.
Policies have been formed on a number of areas of corporate governance and
the CII will put forward these views to US policymakers and opinion formers.
