Mark Anson is to step down as chief executive of Hermes, the fund manager owned by the BT pension scheme. Anson is returning to the US for family reasons, and is to take up a position with an investment management firm. Until a successor is found, Hermes will be run by its executive committee, led by Rupert Clarke.



Harvey McGrath is to retire as chairman of Man Group on 1 September, and will leave the board at the time of the financial services company’s November interim results.

1 September will also see Phillip Colebatch and Patrick O’Sullivan join the board as non-executive directors.



Franz Humer has been appointed to succeed Lord Blyth of Rowington as chairman of Diageo, the drinks business. Humer will take up this appointment from 1 July 2008 after retiring from his current role as chief executive of F Hoffmann-La Roche.



LogicaCMG, the IT consultancy group, has named Jim McKenna as its interim chief executive. McKenna is currently chief operating officer, and will assume the temporary role following the 21 September departure of current chief executive Martin Read.

The company also announced the appointment of David Tyler as deputy chairman. He is assuming the role jointly with existing deputy chairman Wim Dik. Tyler was finance director of GUS from 1997 to 2006.



Alan Bowkett as been appointed non-executive chairman of Redrow, the housebuilder, with immediate effect. Bowkett is currently chairman of Seton House, the aerospace and safety products group. He succeeds Jim Martin, who took on the role of interim chairman in March 2007 and will step down from the Redrow board on 11 September.
