Women still suffer discrimination in US workplace

Gender bias is very much alive in the US workplace, with men outnumbering women in senior posts by almost six to one, a survey by TheLadders.com, the executive recruitment service, has found.

When asked whether women have as many opportunities as men to become chief executives, 66.3% of executives surveyed said “no”. Furthermore, 71.5% of respondents stated men and women are not paid the same for similar positions.

This is despite 54.1% of those surveyed – of both sexes – saying men and women are equally skilled at managing employees.

Sexual harassment also appears to enjoy a degree of prevalence: 51.2% of respondents said they had experienced some form at first hand, while 26% said they had not personally but knew of someone who had.
