Best Practice & Ethics

Briefs .....

Financial and professional services firms performed well in the recent Sunday Times' ranking of the best large companies to work for in the UK. US financial giants Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley took the first and third spots while KPMG was ranked at number two. Of the other top four accounting firms, Ernst & Young was placed at number four, Deloitte at number 6 and PricewaterhouseCoopers at number eight. KPMG said this was the third consecutive year it was in the top three of best places to work for in the UK and this year also won a special award for the amount the company puts back into society through charitable donations and volunteering by staff.

The Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) has unveiled its annual list of the US’ top businesses for offering equal access to corporate contracts for women’s business enterprises. Among the companies being recognised are Bank of America, BellSouth, IBM, PepsiCo, Pfizer, Shell, TXU and UPS. TXU and UPS have been recognised in each of the eight years since the awards inception, while Bank of America and Shell have both been recognised five times. Linda Denny, WBENC interim president, said this “consistency of culture demonstrates that once a company embeds bets practices in its organization and culture, it can sustain and enhance its success year after year”.
