100 Best Corporate Citizens

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters has retained its position at the top of CRO magazine’s annual list of the 100 Best Corporate Citizens – the first time in the US list’s eight year history a company has held this place for two consecutive years. Green Mountain is a major supplier of Fairtrade organic coffee – which pays coffee growers a guaranteed minimum floor price for their crops.

Sharing the top ten with Green Mountain were companies such as IBM, Timberland and Motorola.

CRO found the top 100 to be dominated by companies increasingly focusing on sustainability and climate change. Among the top 10 companies were eight members of the US Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) green power partnership. Four are EPA climate leaders, working with the government on strategies to address global warming.

Michael Connor, CRO editor, said the 100 Best Companies are distinguished from their peers by their combining of strong financial performance with responsible social and environmental practices.
