Computer company Dell has received the National Recycling Coalition’s (NRC’s) annual award for promoting individual producer responsibility. Kate Krebs, NRC executive director, said Dell’s environmental initiatives of the past year demonstrate vision, leadership and commitment never before seen in the industry. For instance, Dell is the only computer manufacturer to offer customers free recycling for its own branded computer equipment without requiring new product purchase. Michael Dell, the firm’s chairman and chief executive, said from the time the company conceives a product to the point it is recycled, Dell is seeking to minimise its impact on the world around it and help customers do the same.
