Socially responsible investmentMalaysian SRI index launched
Malaysia’s first socially responsible investment (SRI) index has been launched, offering an assessment of the CSR performance of Malaysian companies based on international standards but customised to the domestic context.
The Malaysia SRI Index, developed by OWW Consulting, is the first in an index series that will initially also cover Singapore and then be expanded to include other south-east Asian economies. OWW claimed that SRI investors have so far been unable to tap the investment opportunities offered by Malaysia and Singapore.
It argued, that its OWW Responsibility™ SRI Index Series will address this by helping the global SRI community access up-to-date and reliable information on environmental, social and governance performance.
The index is accompanied by CSR reports assessing company performance across workplace, marketplace, environment and community benchmarks.
