David Bennett is to be promoted from finance director to chief executive of Alliance & Leicester, effective 27 July. He succeeds Richard Pym, who in February announced his intention to step down. Chris Rhodes, currently managing director of retail banking, will become finance director.
David Harding is to stand down as chief executive of William Hill, the bookmaker, by the end of 2007. He joined the company in 2000, and the board has begun a search for his successor.
DSG International has appointed John Browett to replace John Clare as its chief executive. Browett is currently operations and development director at Tesco.
Jon Symonds has resigned as chief financial officer of AstraZeneca, the pharmaceutical company, in order to take up the role of managing director at Goldman Sachs. Symonds joined Zeneca as chief financial officer in 1997, and was appointed to the same role after 1998’s merger with Astra.
Bill Dye has been appointed chief executive of ITE, the conference organiser. Dye replaces Ian Tomkins and is expected to join the group in September. He is currently executive director for business services at Capita.
